Price List 2021
All the aforementioned prices are excluding ammunition used.  The quantity of ammunition used will vary from person to person depending on the learner’s prior shooting experience and knowledge.  The following is a guideline as to the average quantity of ammunition for training purposes: It is always advisable that the learner shoots 4 times more rounds than what the qualification shoot requires in order to gain the required level of proficiency.   Qualification shoot Recommended number of rounds for training purposes Basic Handgun 10 rounds 40 rounds Shotgun 5 rounds 20 rounds Rifle:   Manual 10 rounds 40 rounds Rifle:   Self-loading 10 rounds 40 rounds Business purposes Handgun 25 rounds 100 rounds Shotgun 5 rounds 20 rounds Manual 5 rounds 20 rounds Self-loading 10 rounds 40 rounds
Additional notes: 1. Training time:   Basic training   Basic firearm proficiency training can take up to approximately 5 ½ hours depending on a candidate and number of tests written.  This calculation takes into account  that the learner has pre-registered and completed his formative examinations at home.  Training time required for a learner who has not pre-registered and completed his formative examination at home: Two days.  2. Training time:  Business purposes:   Minimum of 3 days. 3. Please bring own food and drink.   4. The Unit Standard Legal Test is compulsory when applying for SAPS Competency for the first time. 5. If you are a new applicant and have not yet completed any firearm proficiency before and you are planning to apply for a handgun license. Then your course cost will be R450(for the legal test) plus R 550(h/u Handgun) = R 1 000 nexcluding ammunition cost.If you would like to add an additional unit standard ex(Manual loading rifle) then simply add R550 to your budget excluding the ammunition cost.   2.You are a learner wishing to work for an employer and will be issued with a handgun as part of your duties. Then your course cost will be R450(for the legal test) plus R 550(h/u Handgun) plus R550(h/u handgun for business) = R 1 500 excluding ammunition cost
